Should I bother going to culinary school if I hate wine?
I can't stand wine (or any alcohol for that matter) but I'm really interested in going to culinary school. Is there any way to be a successful culinary artist without being a wine connoisseur? If not, what's the best way to get over my issue with wine?
You definitely should go to culinary school. Hatred of wine is one thing, getting educated in the wonderful world of food is another.
Think about how you can hone your skills, your customers. People would know they can come to you for not having alcohol in your food.
For example; I went to culinary school, a long time ago. I specifically remember hating the class when we had to take live lobster and stick it in a pot of boiling water.....I didnt do it then, and I haven't done it now. But this doesn't mean that I don't love cooking everything else. I just know that I can't kill a live animal.
It is the same principle, if you love the world of food, don't let it pass you buy. That is only a teeny tiny bit of the culinary world.
