How do I connect car radio's ground wire to chassis?
I'm a beginner trying to install my radio in my car but the power keeps going on and off. I searched and pretty sure its my ground wire causing this since I didnt connect it to anything. I read I need to connect it to the chassis but how do I do this step by step? I dont understant how I'm supposed to connect the wire to the metal.. does it just have to touch the metal frame? But how do I make it secure? Thanks.
You're right, just about any metal will be a good ground. Find an existing bolt or screw, loosen it, wrap the wire around it, and tighten it back down. For a more permanent connection, use a solder or crimp terminal connector to go between the screw and metal.
Most car antenna connections are grounded on the other end as well, so just connecting the antenna often takes care of the grounding -- but some radios have that isolated out.
