Can you suggest a good book about rise and fall of communism?
I would like to mention specifically that i'm not looking for a beginners introduction to communism.I am specifically searching for a book that provides exhaustive analysis of socioeconomic scenario in all the major regions having communist governance (beginning from it's rise in Russia and all the stages of it's progress along the time-line and also it's line of progress in the Chinese situation).Though it must be difficult I beg for you to suggest an author with as neutral a tone as possible.
I would like the book to include information(I would appreciate absence of criticism by author himself)about the social political and economical ideology behind communism(excerpts from passages by Frederick Engels, Marx and later by Stalin and Mao-tse-tung).As it will be difficult to find this different outlook in a book suggested considering aforementioned requirements suggestion of a separate book is welcome as well.
It is difficult to find such an author as you suggest. But try Solzhenitsyn's The Archipelago Gulag. You'll find there a lot about communism
